We have an opening for a Part Time Library Associate.
- Circulation Services
- Check materials in and out & assist patrons in selection of materials needed
- Notify patrons of overdue materials fines, collect and account for funds received
- Issue library cards and maintain records based on patron eligibility
- Assure that materials are checked in and correctly shelved
- Enter circulation statistics into Excel database
- Ability to retain and follow circulation policies and procedures
- Cataloging Services
- Add materials to the collection from donated materials as directed
- Add holdings to automated library catalog
- Manage McNaughton account of monthly bestsellers based on patron requests
- Assist Director with collection maintenance and development, inventory and weeding
- Process newly cataloged materials for shelving and perform needed repairs to others
- Reference Services
- Assist patrons with Digital Archive, local resources, and online databases
- Assist patrons with automated card catalog
- Assist patrons in using computers, laptops, wireless and e-devices
- Assist patrons with using library apps and digital platforms
- Assist patrons in finding needed materials, placing holds, and general reference questions
- Programming Services
- Assist Director in planning, advertising, and implementation of Library Programs
- Assist Director with displays of materials and informational resources

- Act as coordinator for program presenters during the shift as needed
- Assist with special events/programs
- Coordinate Summer Reading Program
- Must have the ability to deliver library programs and speak before groups as needed
- Miscellaneous Duties
- Supervise any volunteers or pages and instruct them on shelving of materials, etc.
- Submit weekly article to the Media
- Participate in keeping the Library orderly and neat
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; use appropriate judgment handling information and records
- Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
- Ability to arrange items in alphanumeric and/or subject order
- Must be willing and able to be flexible in schedule and duties as directed
- Assist with Interlibrary Loan duties when needed.

- Talking and hearing; use of the telephone.
- Lifting and carrying: 50 pounds or less.
- Handling: processing, picking up and shelving books.
- Typing, writing, filing, sorting, shelving, and processing.
- Pushing and pulling: objects weighing up to 60-80 pounds on wheels.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer for long periods of time.
- Education / Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree and prior library experience preferred but not necessary.
